Andy Motz - a love poem

Morning

We lay next to each other
under pure orange umbrellas
shielding us from the blazing sun.

A curious hummingbird flutters above
fixated on us, two men in love.
I forget about those who hate us.

Afternoon

I’ve been making eyes at this guy
at the pool for days.
I work up the courage to
swim across the glittering pool
to finally strike up conversation.

His eyes, concealed by sunglasses, are
the only part of his angled toned body
I cannot see.

A half hour later I come inside him
while looking into his piercing eyes,
no longer hidden.

Evening

The sun slides behind the mountains.
The light, like love, is soft and glowing.

My partner and I sit down for dinner.
Thanks for warm bread.
Thanks for crisp wine.
Thanks for vegetables prepared with tenderness.
Thanks for taste.
Thanks for sharing all this with another.

Night

Underwear night.
Our second this week.
Now it’s time to be barely clothed,
—–to embrace your body
—–to feel the warm wind caress your torso
—–to not be ashamed.

This is what underwear nights offer.
I try to accept.

My partner heads to a foursome.
I, sun kissed, head back to the hotel.

Before entering the room
I gaze up at the sky, full of stars.
Luminous.

What a time,
both exciting and terrifying,
to be alive.

Dawn

He returns late and
crawls into bed next to me.
I hold him close as
—————————-we both
—————————————–drift off.
My past declawed.

from being present to bodies
