Poet Matthew Mazzoni showers readers of chaotic fragments of localized imagery in his avant garde poem “The Blue Mirror”. One of several of Matthew’s poems written about life in Savannah, Georgia, “The Blue Mirror” is sourced from the journals he kept while living and working in Savannah, dealing with various thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. “The Blue Mirror” displays that journalistic stream-of-consciousness style, carrying the reader from object to object, some tangible and some not.
The Blue Mirror
Bark boredom sniff dandelions
Howls stone innocent fur
Chasing copper cunning tails
Crisp water cascading whiskers
Traverse leaves snapping kindling
Paddling stones eager whimper
Summers laying dirt shaking spiders
Forest echo chasing magenta dart frogs
Servants’ gold magenta pillows
Orchards pour sizzling amber
Eyes illuminate hypnotic face
Curious butterflies mourn the stone
Tears swim antique clocks
Love silent obvious mother
