From the shores of Kauai, surfer-poet Richard Pettigrew heads inward, immerses us in microcosm with his poem “Specks”. Zooming in, the subject of this poem are the particles adrift in the spaces between spaces. Intention is absent from the chaotic “specks” themselves and from Richard’s poem, as his couplets float through sunshine and misty heights, drift down the currents of chronology.
Specks
Float absent of intent
careening off a tilting world
oddly etheric
borrowers of substance
random pilgrimage
portals twitching
touch downs
re-floating whisper twirls
blown about on elevations
mist soaked and sun dried
specks river roam
eventuality.
